ARCH1142 -Architectural Communications Week 3

CLASSWORK
Building the window detail of the Fischer House at a 1:50 scale allowed me to consider the way in which I was going to go about constructing the homework model in terms of the type of balsa used as well as the cutting techniques.

HOMEWORK
Louis Kahn - Fischer House: In my model of the Fischer House I used distinctive materials to explore the contrasting materials in the Fischer house.

ARCH1142 -Architectural Communications Week 2

CLASSWORK
Developing concept models from the section provided allowed me to explore the idea of transition between forms. I created three forms that all played with the notion of scale.

HOMEWORK
Site Model of Fischer House - Louis Kahn: I decided to create the trees from boxboard to ensure they appeared at one with the landscape. Cutting a hole into the landscape allowed for the building itself to sit accurately in the site.

ARCH1142 - Architectural Communications Week 1

HOMEWORK
Barcelona Pavillion - Mies Van Der Rohe: The most challenging part of this model was creating the landscape in such a way that the building itself sat accurately within the created landscape. The scale, too posed a challenge in terms of my decision of what to include and exclude from the model. As I was trying to communicate the notion of fluidity within the structure, it was unnecessary to have included the framing of the windows.

CLASSWORK
Building these simple forms allowed us to explore the use of balsa and white card as well as the integration of two distinctive materials into one model.
